Types of Plastic for Recycling

1. PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)

PET is a type of plastic commonly used in beverage bottles and food containers. It is known for its ability to prevent oxygen from spoiling the contents and is widely recyclable, often being made into products like containers, carpets, furniture, and clothing fibres.

2. HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)

Featuring long, unbranched polymer chains, HDPE is a durable plastic that can withstand temperatures up to 120°C. It is repurposed into products such as containers, plastic lumber, fencing, and picnic tables.

3. LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene)

Bags, wraps, six-pack rings, and containers are made of LDPE. Unlike HDPE, LDPE has low-density molecules, making it thinner, more flexible, and inexpensive to produce, but more difficult to recycle.

4. PP (Polypropylene)

Known for its durability and heat resistance, Polypropylene (PP) is commonly used in containers ,tupperware and car parts. When recycled PP can be utised in items like containers, pallets, and car parts.
